Alumni Personal Story: Tiffany Martin

conradWhy did you attend Oaksterdam University?
I attended Oaksterdam University because I had questions on how cannabis works and affects your body.

How it helped or inspired you?
I am inspired to spread the knowledge that I have learned at Oaksterdam University so that people won’t have so much fear when it comes to the cannabis subject.

What would you tell prospective students?
If you are looking to come to Oaksterdam University, my advice to you is to go for it. Come with an open mind, clear notebook, voice recorder, and enjoy the educational ride. They are here to help, not judge, so don’t be afraid to ask questions, or reach out. We are all in this together as a Cannabis family.

Personal Story:

I woke up one morning and asked myself the questions of why, how, and what. Why does cannabis work, how, and what else can we do with it? My mother is a survivor of the big C word, Cancer. She used cannabis religiously while fighting her disease and still uses it to this day. My cousin did not survive his battle with cancer, but he did not use cannabis as much as my mom did. So it brings me back to my questions of why, how, and what.

My parents and I searched the web for many answers to our questions, and then we found Oaksterdam University. I flew out to Oakland, California from New Jersey five months later after finding the school. When I walked through the doors of Oaksterdam all my nervousness went away, I felt right at home. I took the Classic Seminar on June 21, 2014, the Horticulture Seminar on July 5, 2014, but I didn’t stop there. I also applied for an internship over the course of attending classes, and volunteered between classes. In completing my Internship this January of 2015 I am amazed by how much information I learned, but one of the things that I learned that interested the most in were topicals.  I love chemistry. The thought of being able to extract the Cannabinoids, and mix it into whatever lotion I wanted to make blew my mind, and it works for so many different things. When I made my own topical I felt like I was on cloud nine, and it works. I began to think about all of the people that I know that my product would help. Not only did Oaksterdam University give me the tools and knowledge I needed, they also have amazing teachers, staff that care and were able to help me get started with my business.

I am in the process of working with one of the teachers this is a lawyer, and I am beyond excited. There are no words that can describe the feeling when someone uses your product and they tell you it helped them.
