This is a class for gardeners with outdoor interest and experience. The objectives of the class are to save you time, labor and resources, improve the quality of the crop and increase your yields.

Subjects covered are:

  • Seeds vs. clones- Advantages and disadvantages of each in the garden.
  • Early sexing- New and traditional techniques for early sexing, including sexing large numbers of plants. These methods have been developed and tested in Ed’s lab over the last year, and are being introduced through OU
  • Early flowering- Techniques for forcing flowering early and harvesting superior weed in mid-summer. Using this method and the tricks involved in optimizing it you can grow the best outdoors and harvest in mid-summer.
  • Water conservation- Using innovative techniques to conserve water so plants produce an abundant yield while cutting down on water use.
  • Planting holes, raised beds and soil preparation: Tips, tricks and tools.
  • Harvesting: New tools for mechanized harvesting and manicuring

Current Oaksterdam Students and Alumni are able to sign up for this elective as it becomes available. New Students can sign up for a prerequisite package, attend a Basic Weekend Seminar or enroll in the Classic or Horticulture Semester to be eligible. There are NO REFUNDS for elective classes!

Aunt Sandy shares her cannabutter preparation technique! In this elective class, she leads a demonstration and teaches students how to cook strawberry shortcake, honey glazed ham, and Amsterdam Space Cake!

This new elective class is for anyone interested in the process of making cannabis infused butter. This is a small class. Current Oaksterdam Students and Alumni are able to sign up for this elective. Bliss Edibles 250Methods of Ingestion Guest Speaker Series: Cooking

“No Cooking Required” Bliss Edibles Method

Prerequisite classes are required before taking this elective. Current Oaksterdam Students and Alumni are able to sign up for this elective immediately. There are NO REFUNDS for Electives!

This is a “no cooking required” infusion class in addition to an introduction for concepts pertaining to cooking with cannabis! You will learn how to make simple food assembly recipes using a quick 3-minute tincture process. This class will be in a demonstration format using basic kitchen tools and very small appliances (coffee grinder, blender and microwave) as there will be “no cooking” required!
This new elective class is perfect for anyone interested in making a quick tincture and being able to infuse it into almost any food! Current Oaksterdam Students and Alumni are able to sign up for this elective immediately. New Students can sign up for a prerequisite package, attend a basic weekend seminar or enroll in the winter classic semester class to be eligible. Want to learn the best ways to maximize your garden productivity by making the most of your trim? The resin glands from your harvest leftover plant material are more powerful than you think!

This is the most thorough class available to learn various methods for cold-water hash and dry sifting kief extraction techniques. Your instructor, Chad Gilmore, will offer explanation, comparison and demonstrations of various processes to produce the best concentrates. The class will also explore the curing process and extracts for tincture preparation. Extract every last bit of your plant medicine and put it to good use. This class includes instruction with demonstration in cannabis extraction methods.

Horticulture with Richard Lee

Richard Lee SFGateLearn the Oaksterdam method of growing from Richard Lee! He will teach a simple flood and drain system with 4×4 inch rock wool cubes. This class is a perfect opportunity to have all your questions answered for both the small garden and the large commercial production facility from someone who has been growing for twenty years. There will be a short break and extra time for questions at the end of class. Current Oaksterdam Students and Alumni are able to sign up for this elective immediately. New Students can sign up for a prerequisite package, attend a Basic Weekend Seminar or enroll in the a Classic Semester Course to be eligible.
