What do you teach at Oaksterdam University?
Horticulture, genetics, cultivation and organic sustainable farming.
How long have you been with OU?
How you got involved in the industry?
“Being originally from Chicago and having a passion for music and dj’ing I was always around cannabis and developed an interest in growing early while in college. However, I really started my career in cannabis over 20 years ago in Spain when I was overseas as a chef working for 3 Michelin Star restaurants. When I was managing a kitchen in Barcelona I befriended Jorge Cervantes and began working projects with him including the development of the Marijuana Bible. Since then and for the last two decades, I have grown and studied genetics in three different countries and have collected a portfolio of indigenous genetics from around the world.”
What is the name of your company or business and what services you provide?
“The Original Breeders League is a company my partner Priscilla and I created as a worldwide platform to work with our highly esteemed friends and colleagues – who share a deep mission to deliver cannabis and hemp genetics to solve patient issues and to create unique and exotic strains for the most discerning cannabis connoisseurs from around the world to enjoy.”
Expert tip for our readers?
“Throughout my career I have met hundreds of people who think breeding is a matter of checking off boxes on a list. In order to arrive to excellence in breeding you have to address the botany of desire – follow your instincts while selecting characteristics that you feel is the future of the industry. Move forward with the passion to break molds – not follow trends and to do positive work for the world – not just cash in on it.”
Favorite part about Oaksterdam?
My favorite part of Oaksterdam is the organizations passion to educate the world about all things cannabis. Oaksterdam really has a deep rounded knowledge base to begin in the industry. If you are serious about your career in cannabis you should build your foundation with an institution such as Oaksterdam University.
