Congratulations to Robyn Pierce, OU’s July 2016 Featured Instructor!
What do you teach at Oaksterdam University?
I teach all aspects of cannabis horticulture. My specialty is cannabis propagation and nursery management.
How long have you been with OU?
I started coming to OU for clones of new strains in 2008 until it was raided. I started teaching there in early 2016.
How you got involved in the industry?
I moved to CA in late 2007 for grad school studying philosophy. While in that program I met people who worked at a medical cannabis nursery. I started working there in early 2008 and by 2010 had started another nursery with friends. I have worked primarily with clones and mother plants since then.
What is the name of your company or business and what services you provide?
I operate Green Label, a nursery that provides cuttings to Harborside HC, Oakland. I also run a small consulting business and work with Purple City Genetics, also a nursery here in Oakland.
Expert tip for our readers?
Yield isn’t everything. Don’t forget about to seek out the other qualities in flowers.
Favorite part about Oaksterdam?
Definitely the students. They have passion and great questions. I learn a lot from them.
Anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Kill your sick and/or pest-infected plants. No good ever comes from them.
