Can you send me information about OU?

In an effort to go paperless, we no longer mail out our Academic Catalog or Brochures. Please explore this site or call us at (510) 251-1544 for more information.

What is the age requirement to attend?
The only requirements that need to be met to take courses with Oaksterdam University are you must be at least 18 years old and pay your tuition. Click here to learn more about the enrollment process
How do I enroll in an OU Semester or Seminar?

Enrolling is easy! We accept both US & International students. Please follow the instructions on our Enrollment Process page

Do classes meet 5 days a week like most schools?

No, semester classes are held once a week and seminar classes are 2 or 4 consecutive days

When are the Semesters?

Semesters are held tri-annually at our campus in Oakland, CA. You can see Semester availability on our course schedule. Please signup for our newsletter if you'd like to receive updates on upcoming course dates. 

The Classic semester students attend class every Wednesday for 2.5 hours and the Horticulture semester students attend class every Thursday for 2.5 hours.

Upon enrollment, students may choose the morning class from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm or the afternoon class from 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm.


When are the Seminars?

Seminars are offered every other week at our campus in Oakland, CA. Horticulture and Classic Seminars are both held once a month. You can see Seminar availability on our course schedule. Please signup for our newsletter if you'd like to receive updates on upcoming course dates. 

Seminars are either two or four days and always held on Saturday - Sunday (Basic) and Monday - Tuesday (Advanced) from 10:00 am - 5:30 pm


Do I need a medical marijuana card to attend?

You do not need a medical marijuana card to attend Oaksterdam University

Are tours available?

Do you accept international students?

Yes. If you live outside the United states and would like to attend our university, your only requirement is that you must be 18 years of age or older at the time of registration. We do not have any visa requirements. Tuition for international students, out of state students, and California residents is the same.

Do you accept student visas?

We cannot accept student visas due to cannabis still being illegal in some countries.

Do you accept G.I. Bills?

We do not accept G.I. bills

Can I send a check or money order?

Yes, payable to “Wise Education Technology, Inc.” to 1734 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, CA 94612.

What are the benefits of certification?

If you are applying for a job at a dispensary, our hope is that our certification program will give you the advantage in the selection process over someone who has NOT received certification.

Certification shows that you have taken all of our courses and have proved that you have met our standards of knowledge in the cannabis industry.

Once receiving certification from us, you are encouraged to list Oaksterdam University under “special training”. Dispensaries can then call and verify that you are a student in good standing.

How long does it take to receive my certificate?

It can take up to 8 weeks to receive your certificate after we receive your exam(s) and/or assignments.

I missed my class(es), can I reschedule/be refunded?

There are no refunds for missed classes. If you are going to miss your class please let us know as soon as possible.

There is a $50 rescheduling fee, that increases to $100 if a reschedule is requested within 7 days of the start of class.
