Oaksterdam University is proud to sponsor the “Your Choice” Community Advocacy Award at the 2022 Budtender Awards, presented at G4 Live, May 12-14 in Las Vegas. Nominations for this prestigious award are open now.

OU was founded in 2007 on a bedrock of advocacy. Our faculty were pioneers in the legalization movement and we continue to advocate tirelessly for cannabis to be descheduled and destigmatized. We have a long history of training Budtenders to be advocates for safe, legal access to the plant — in fact, Oaksterdam coined the term “Budtender” as we opened the nation’s first legal dispensaries in Oakland, Calif.

As we celebrate our 15th anniversary, we will honor three Budtenders who bring these principles of advocacy to life in their community.

Community Advocacy Award Prizes:

  • One grand prize winner will be awarded a full scholarship to our Budtending LIVE Certification Program (valued at $995), or a certificate of equal value to apply to any of our live virtual courses.
  • Two runners-up will receive full tuition to our Self-Paced Budtending Certification Program (valued at $595 each) or a certificate of equal value toward any self-paced course. *

*Winners must be present at G4 Live presented by the Budtender Awards on May 12, 2022 in Las Vegas to claim their prize at booth #2426.

Here’s a look at OU’s award, and how to nominate:

Community Advocacy Award Sponsored by Oaksterdam

The opportunity to enjoy the many benefits of cannabis today rests on those brave enough to step forward in the legalization movement. The Oaksterdam Community Advocacy Award recognizes the Budtender who is educated on the history of prohibition and works to ensure that everyone has the right to safe, legal access to medicinal and adult-use cannabis. This Budtender goes over and above, in words and actions, to educate and advocate for patients, consumers, and the community.
