Parents Night: Talk With Your Kids About Cannabis and Vaping

Parents, we need to educate ourselves about cannabis. It’s time to go back to school (and bring a friend)!

If you want to learn the facts about cannabis, how it works, what it does to the brain and body, and the latest information about the vaping crisis, edibles, and other methods of ingestion you might not yet be aware of, Parents Night on Friday, January 17 is for you — and that friend you wish you could talk with.

As Oaksterdam University’s Chancellor, and more importantly, a mother of three, Dale Sky Jones wants to share all the things you need to know and give you the tools you need to talk about cannabis with both your kids and fellow parents. Dale will approach cannabis conversations in a way that will help you keep your kids safe, and informed, empowering them to make smart decisions both now and as adults.

Oaksterdam believes cost should not prohibit any parent from attending. So as a gift to you, tickets are discounted to just $25 a person (originally a value of $150), which can be purchased online or at the door. All proceeds will go to an Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) Public Elementary School to support under-funded programs.

The class runs 6-8 p.m. and is followed by a 30 minute Q&A. You are welcome to arrive as early as 5:30 p.m. to check out the Oaksterdam museum. The school campus is just off the BART 19th Street Station (look for the 17th/Telegraph stairs to exit), and is across from the historic FOX Theater. Parking on the street is free after 6 p.m.
