Course Curriculum

This course provides cannabis business owners and managers in Connecticut with the required knowledge to manage their businesses and comply with state laws and regulations. It includes an overview of state cannabis and hemp laws, the supply chain and license types, the licensing process, business operations and security regulations, and the federal, state, and local taxes Connecticut operators must know how to calculate and pay. Students who complete this course will know where to find laws and information and how to integrate this knowledge into standard operating procedures that ensure compliant business operations. This course also includes considerations of the unique market dynamics faced by Connecticut operators as they plan short- and long-term business strategies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the laws in Connecticut that decriminalize cannabis use and possession and those that license and regulate medical and adult use commercial cannabis markets.
  • Understand Connecticut hemp regulations and how they interact with commercial cannabis markets.
  • Identify the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection as the regulatory agency that oversees cannabis regulation.
  • Understand the state’s focus on social equity in business licensing and identify the Social Equity Council as the state agency that oversees social equity plans for all licensed cannabis businesses.
  • Understand the structure and market dynamics of the in-state supply chain.
  • Understand the licensing lottery process and ownership qualifications.
  • Identify all applicable regulations and integrate compliance into all business planning.
  • Know how to pay federal, state, and local taxes.

Certification Program – This course is only available online. There are no scheduled times. You may complete the modules at your own pace and have one calendar year to complete the course. A certificate of completion may be printed upon passage of the final exam.
