Cannabis Salaries: Cultivation

Now that cannabis is becoming legal across the country, employment is booming for people who are passionate about the plant. The cannabis industry supports 428,059 American jobs, according to the 2022 Leafly Jobs Report, and that number is only expected grow. Last year, the cannabis industry created more than 280 new jobs per day.

Jobs in Cultivation are great for those looking for hands-on interaction with the plant. Cultivators work in grow facilities keeping plants healthy from seed to harvest. Positions range from entry-level trimmers to highly-skilled agronomists and plant breeders.

Here are some insights from the 2022 Cannabis Salary Guide released by CannabizTeam Worldwide, related to horticulture and the jobs it can lead to in the cannabis cultivation sector: 

    • Cultivation salaries are expected to rise up to 8 percent from 2021 to 2022.  
    • Companies are increasingly turning to temporary or “on-demand” workers to fill short- and mid-term needs in cultivation.
    • Hot jobs in cannabis cultivation include Cultivation Manager (direct hire); and Cultivation Associate and Post Harvest Technician (on-demand/temp).
