Welcome to Oaksterdam University, an internationally recognized Cannabis College. It is our mission to provide quality training for the cannabis industry. Thousands of students have already passed through the O.U. curriculum since the school was opened in November 2007. As a groundbreaking new place to learn, Oaksterdam University is a forerunner in training those people interested in a career in the cannabis Industry. O.U. also doubles as a hub for cannabis activism.
O.U. along with other cannabusinesses in the area, plays a vital role in revitalizing the neighborhood and serving the community. Additionally O.U. and the Oaksterdam Community are fierce supporters of Oakland’s voter initiative, Measure Z, which was passed with 65% voter approval in 2004. Measure Z supports the taxation and regulation of adult cannabis sales. Although the measure is still being fully implemented, the initiative enjoys tremendous support. Cannabis sales and other businesses in the cannabis industry have contributed millions of dollars in tax revenue in regards to both state and federal taxes.
We are a community of advocates, activists, patients, and average people. Trust, confidentiality, and solidarity are just a few of the practices we abide by. Our faculty, staff and alumni are ambassadors of the school and benefit from the professional experience and networking opportunities that will develop during your time here. Our students come from all walks of life, which adds to the variety of networking opportunities you will encounter. As a new student you provide a crucial role in the success of our emerging industry and the school, which makes you a very valuable member of our O.U. family.
We welcome your decision to join Oaksterdam University. Our alumni is comprised of some of the most well know and active leaders in the industry. Our faculty helped write many of the cannabis laws that we teach at OU. Building a foundation of knowledge and raising awareness is the first step in making this a more widely recognized and regulated industry. Numerous jurisdictions now tax and regulate the sale of cannabis, and once you graduate from our program you can ensure that the industry will continue to grow.
