Why have you attended Oaksterdam?
I attended Oaksterdam for a list of reasons far too long to count. Mainly though I came here to gain a formal education in the cannabis industry as well as to be on the front lines of the cannabis legalization movement. The cannabis policy in the United States is absolutely laughable and O.U. is on the front lines fighting every day to change the stereotypes and preconceived notions that people have about cannabis due to the false information being spread by our own government. The fact of the matter is that cannabis is a good thing and O.U. is doing everything in our power to shout it at the rooftops, that’s why I came out here to O.U. and it’s the same reason that keeps me from leaving.
How has it helped or inspire you?
O.U. has inspired me and still does every day to keep fighting this ridiculous failure of a prohibition. Even against the odds this plant has faced it’s still come this far. At a time the government did everything in their power to spread lies about cannabis and those who use it whether for their own gain or for the gain of private interests. However even against a federal government hell bent on demonizing this harmless variety of naturally occurring flora and all of those who use it, we’re winning. I’m often asked by people if cannabis will ever be legal for both medical and adult use on a federal level. All I can say to that is it’s no longer a matter of it, it’s just a matter of when.
What would you tell prospective students?
Attending O.U. and being offered a job here has easily been one of the most enjoyable and most memorable experiences of my life. I’ve met some of my best friends here and I’ve gained even more across the globe through my relationships here. We’re a family here at Oaksterdam not just a school and we don’t just train growers, we make gladiators. All I can say to anyone who is interested in attending O.U. is that I can’t wait to personally welcome through those doors myself.
