The Los Angeles Department of Cannabis Regulation is gearing up to host the biggest business and professional development event of the season. LA Cannabis Unite Summer Edition will take place 3-9 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the historic Mayfair Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

Everyone is invited to network, learn about cannabis careers and discover business opportunities. The event is free, and complimentary valet parking is available.

“The goal of this networking event is to provide a platform for the community and equity entrepreneurs to meet thought leaders and manufacturers, cultivators, operators, licensees, and employers all across the industry,” says Dr. Imani Brown, director of the Social Equity Program for the City of LA. “We want to celebrate equity entrepreneurs and the cannabis workforce in Los Angeles.”

The afternoon kicks off with supply chain speed dating, where equity operators and businesses will get the chance to meet and greet with the goal of having equity products on dispensary shelves.

There also will be opportunities for one-on-one coaching, and making connections with the LA SEED Grants program, the LA County Bar Association, and more.

“We’re taking over the whole hotel,” Brown says. “We’re going to have three networking and business development floors.”

COMING TOGETHER

Brown says she is looking forward to the in-person event and thinks others are also eager to meet face-to-face.

“We’re just coming out of COVID and people were sequestered for almost three years,” she says. “Folks are hungry for that one-on-one human interaction. I think having these in-person events connects the community, and makes people feel more a part of something.”

Brown says people coming together unlocks encouragement and opportunities.

“I always say that people are your greatest resource,” she says. “An in-person event just takes the experience to another level.”

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to attend in order to find resources they need to thrive, as well as employers looking to add talent to their teams. It’s also perfect for job seekers interested in building careers in America’s fastest-growing industry.

Attendees will include industry leaders, LA city officials, and even Senator Steven Bradford.

“We’re trying to make it easy for people to come out and support this event,” Brown says. “At the end of the day, it’s about relationships, and these kinds of events help to build just that.”
