CA Consumption Event Worker Training

Course Curriculum

Cannabis consumption is now a legal part of concerts, festivals, and events in California. Designated cannabis consumption areas are regulated by the Department of Cannabis Control, and workers at events where cannabis is served to adults require basic knowledge of best practices for safe consumption, side effects, recognizing the signs of alcohol or drug impairment and preventing unsafe consumption, and how to stay compliant with state and local laws and regulations. This course covers the basics of national and state policies, with a focus on the regulations surrounding one-time events where cannabis will be served. It includes basic guidance regarding dosing and customer service.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Familiarity with the regulations workers at a temporary event with a designated cannabis consumption space must be aware of and comply with.
  • Recognize the signs of overconsumption of cannabis or alcohol and drug impairment, how and when to refuse service, and how to respond to a medical emergency.
  • Understand how different cannabis products, methods of ingestion, and dosing affect consumers.
