Susan Trout successfully develops and executes communications strategies that advance the mission, vision, and goals of technology companies as well as non-profit organizations. She brings 20 years of experience as a leader in rapidly growing high-tech companies, many of which grew through mergers and acquisitions. She excels in coaching executives in effective and consistent messaging through periods of change.
Susan became involved with Oaksterdam University in 1999 after meeting Dale Sky Jones and other leaders in the cannabis movement. She began serving on OU’s Board of Directors in 2020 and now serves as the board’s secretary, reporting to President Dale Sky Jones.
A desire to learn more about and participate in cannabis policy reform work and social justice is key to Susan’s interest in Oaksterdam and its mission. She is focused on gaining experience and skills in advocacy, and she currently serves as a board member for Community Homes & Services, a non-profit based in Novato, Calif., that provides education for disabled adults. As an experienced writer, she ensures effective written communication with donors on advocacy updates and developments in the education field.
Susan is committed to helping Oaksterdam University educate others about the cannabis industry and grow and prosper as a leader in the reform movement. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development from California State University East Bay and an MBA from Saint Mary’s College of California.
