To that end, we are proud to announce exciting updates to our live classroom and self-paced courses, making them even more relevant to prepare students for careers in this exploding industry.
VIRTUAL VIDEO LIBRARIES
Beginning this summer, we are doubling the amount of content available in our self-paced courses by adding virtual libraries that include a wide array of videos and resources.
Students who enroll in The Business of Cannabis, Horticulture, Budtending Certification Program™, and our brand new course, Commercial Manufacturing and Extraction, will have access to a library of video lectures, workshops, and field trips recorded live during our Spring, 2021 semester.
The video lectures, taught by our world-renowned faculty, cover topics like grow room design, cannabis advocacy, naming and branding, and cannabis law among many more.
In addition to lectures, the video gallery includes field trips and workshops, such as a factory tour of PurePressure, which manufactures rosin presses, a visit to Akashic Care, a private tincture and topicals lab in Santa Ysabel, Calif., and an educational walk-through of OU Alum Jeff Hickey’s garden, complete with real-world insights, grow tips and advice.
The libraries also contain links to a wide variety of books, web resources, and professional organizations in the cannabis industry.
While the virtual libraries can’t replace live, in-person courses at Oaksterdam, they offer more content, value, and resources to people around the world who want to advance their careers in cannabis.
“The videos are designed to support different learning styles and outcomes,” says OU Executive Chancellor Dale Sky Jones. “It’s a little slice of the Oaksterdam experience.”
LIVE CLASSROOM UPDATES
In addition to the trove of resources added to our self-paced courses, OU has enhanced our Live Classroom semester courses as well.
We have completely revamped our Horticulture semester program to reflect the latest technology, research, and growing practices. We have added two new modules to our Business of Cannabis semester. Both are getting a virtual library of resources.
Starting with our Fall 2021 semester, we have built-in more time for enhanced instruction and group projects, extending the program by three weeks. This allows students to develop deep relationships with their cohort, and work on real-world capstone projects focused on launching their own businesses.
