Description
This course provides New Jersey cannabis business managers and owners with an overview of state law and how it interacts with local regulations so that they can navigate state licensing and local permitting, comply with state law and local regulations, and develop standard operational procedures and practices that ensure compliance.
The first lesson covers the history of New Jersey cannabis laws, identifies current statutes, and introduces the Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC), which oversees the licensing and regulation of cannabis operators. It also covers business laws and regulations not specific to the cannabis industry and the state agencies that oversee them.
The second lesson takes a closer look at local regulations, potential additional fees and requirements, and defines what a municipality can and cannot require as a condition for licensing. The third lesson covers all applicable taxes, how to pay for them, and how to plan for tax compliance. The fourth lesson provides an overview of the different license types available and the regulations specific to each. The fifth lesson breaks down the various categories of priority licensing, eligibility, and how to access these benefits.
The course concludes by highlighting other key regulations operators should be aware of to build into their planning, as well as market considerations from other states that have made the transition from medical to adult use.
